There is a knowledge that cannot be written down,it is passed down through the generations. At Talis, the connection to the land is a living memory, preserved by those who have learned to listen to the soil even before cultivating it. Our wines are born from a delicate balance: between what the land offers and what we have learned, over time, to nurture.
Four waterways mark the territory of Talis. The Judrio, whose waters until 1918 defined the border between the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy. The Torre, accompanied by its clattering pebbles, appears and disappears across the countryside. The Natisone, cradle of the ancient Lombard civilization, and the Corno, which meanders slowly through the historic lands of the Abbey of Rosazzo.
In this land, the climate follows an ancient and precise rhythm: the sea breeze that blows at dawn is accompanied by the wind from the east, which, without fail, announces its arrival at dusk. These ideal soil and climate conditions foster healthy vines, fragrant fruit, and a terroir that has found its natural balance over the years.
When the work in the vineyard is done well, our role in the cellar is simply to monitor the process. Fermentation follows traditional methods, complemented by the latest winemaking knowledge. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel, concrete, and wood tanks, because each material has something to contribute: freshness, structure, and memory. It is wood, above all, that leaves the most ancient imprint, imbuing the wine with a flavor of memory, of past seasons, and of history.
